Durable Earnings

Building income that lasts in a world that’s changing fast.

About

Neil Gulino

I watched it happen from the inside. That’s why this exists.

My name is Neil Gulino. I’m 62 years old, and I’ve spent my career working inside one of the world’s largest IT services and consulting firms — helping major enterprises modernize their technology, adopt cloud infrastructure, and implement AI. I’ve had a front-row seat to what AI actually does when it meets a real organization.

Recently, that seat got uncomfortable.

I’m currently part of a project implementing AI across an end-to-end quality engineering workflow. When fully rolled out, the result will be straightforward — from a business perspective: a team of 800 people will become a team of 200. Not because anyone did anything wrong. Not because the work disappears. Because the economics become impossible to ignore, and companies don’t ignore economics.

I drove home one day thinking about the 600 people whose roles are being eliminated — and about everyone I knew who was in a similar position without realizing it. My wife. My friends. People in their 40s and 50s who had built solid careers on exactly the kind of structured, knowledge-based work that AI is now absorbing quietly and quickly.

I started writing. First for myself, trying to think it through. Then a letter to the people I love — an honest attempt to explain what I was seeing, what it meant, and why I believed this moment was different from every wave of technology that came before it.

That letter became the foundation of Durable Earnings.

What this site is

Durable Earnings exists for one reason: to reach people 40–60 before the disruption hits, not after.

Most of the people who will be affected by AI aren’t reading about AGI. They’re searching for how to make extra money, whether their retirement savings are enough, and how to protect the career they’ve spent decades building. This site meets them there — with clear information, practical guidance, and no alarm for its own sake.

You’ll find content here on how AI is actually reshaping jobs and income, how to build income streams that don’t depend on a single employer, and how to build a retirement that holds in a world that’s changing faster than most financial plans were designed for.

Some articles come from me. Others come from contributors — including people in my life — who bring different perspectives and experiences to the same core mission. This isn’t a one-person show. It’s a community forming around a shared urgency.

What this site isn’t

It isn’t doom and gloom. I genuinely believe there is a positive path through this — a future where the disruption leads to transformation rather than collapse. But I also believe the people who navigate it best will be the ones who saw it coming and moved deliberately. That’s what I want for you.

A note on where I’m coming from

I’m not a financial advisor. I’m not an economist. I’m someone who has spent his career at the intersection of technology and business — who has watched AI move from a promise to a product to a workforce event — and who decided that staying quiet wasn’t something he could do anymore.

I built this site because I wished something like it had existed for the people I care about before they needed it.

If you’re here, I’m glad you found it.
